This page is for the RS5 or RS3 red LASER scanners. For the AS1 blue LASER scanner, see this page.
The following RDS RSx setup is recommended for using VTube-LASER with HEXAGON arms and the RS5 and RS3 (red LASER) scanners.
- 1 - Capture mode: "Keep button pressed"
- 2 - Scanning profile: Save a profile named "VTube" (Do this last - after you have set both 3 and 4.)
- 3 - Point sampling - Set it as low as possible. The lower setting is still a lot of data from HEXAGON.
- 4 - Exposure mode: Auto
Be sure your Connection Control Pack is correctly selected. There are two types of control packs from different eras of arms.
CONNNECTION CONFIGURATION for CP-C or CP-W Style Control Packs
If you have an arm with a control pack that only uses an Ethernet cable and a power cable, then use this Connection configuration.
This kind of connection will act as a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server and send an IP address to the port that is connected to the arm automatically. So, do not use a fixed IP for the port connected to the arm in this case.

CONNNECTION CONFIGURATION for CP1, 2, 3, etc. Style Control Packs
These are used on RA8 arms that have three cables in the control pack. The cables are Ethernet, USB, and power.
Choose a CP with a number - usually CP1. The Link type says USB, but the scanner connects through the Ethernet.
Note that there is no Ethernet IP address in this option.
For this kind of control pack, the arm does not receive an IP address from the RDS server like in the CP-C or CP-W control packs. It is important to fix the arm's Ethernet IP address in Windows to an address like 102.168.178.110.

How to Switch from Probe to Scanner
The RSx menus will only display if the scanner is active. To make the menu visible, use the main RDS interface like this:

The scanner will turn on and the RDS window will change to this state:

RSx Scanner Configuration for RS5 Scanners
After the scanner is enabled, you can configure the RSx scanner menu like this.

RSx Scanner Configuration for RS3 Scanners

To make changes to the settings, you will need to enter Advanced mode.
1 - Click on the Standard button in the upper right corner.

2. Enter the password: Advanced

3. Make the changes to the values as shown in the first screen image above.
4. Save a new Profile (a LASER configuration) called "VTube".

5. Press Save in the lower right.

6. Press Quit.
7. Be sure that the VTube scanning profile is used for scanning in VTube-LASER.
8. This shows the profile being used in a smaller popup window.

How to Fix RDS when the RDS Service Will Not Start
If the RDS Service will not Run (image here shows running), the "Stop" button will read "Start". If when you press "Start" RDS does not start, then an uninstall and reinstall of RDS may be necessary.

You can also start and stop RDS services with CMD commands from the Start menu. Type “RDS S” and see the applications that display.
