About Initial Lenovo ThinkStation P3 Tiny Hardware Configuration (Before the first system boot)

The Lenovo ThinkStation P3 Tiny works better when connected to the monitor via a DisplayPort cable. The P3 will not always find a monitor when using its legacy HDMI port during initial configuration.

The Mini DisplayPort ports are for the optional NVIDIA Quadro cards. They outperform the other two video ports.

Video Cables To Use

Install VTube-LASER

  1. Install the correct version of VTube-LASER.
  2. Start VTube-LASER and sign in with the license server credentials.

Install RDS

  1. Download and install the latest RDS (from the ATT website).
  2. Set the control pack to CP-C or CP-W.  This must be performed manually, or RDS will not find the arm.
  3. Turn off all options that communicate with HEXAGON servers.
  4. Turn the LASER scanner ON and set the Profile using this configuration.

VTube-LASER Scan Test

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable and test with the HEXAGON Arm.
  2. Run VTube-LASER and connect to the HEXAGON arm.
  3. Scan a point cloud.
  4. Delete all Cut Planes installed and create a new Cut Plane.
  5. Scan one of the demo parts and perform an alignment.

Pin the VTube-LASER shortcut icon to the taskbar

Use the popup menu on the Windows desktop to pin the icon.

HEXAGON RDS Configuration

See this video for RDS configuration.  ("RDS" is an acronym for “ROMER Data System.”  HEXAGON branded away from the use of ROMER when they purchased ROMER, but kept the “RDS” acronym.)

  1. This requires that RDS is installed and running.  See our main website support menu to download the latest version.
  2. This requires that the HEXAGON arm with the scanner attached be plugged into the computer's RJ45 port and be running.

Configure the VTube-LASER Monitor Scale Factor

Set the VTube-LASER System Options monitor scale factor to the same value used in Windows. In this case, the value should be 1.25 for 125% scaling.
