Video Tutorial

See this video on how to hide and move fields in the VTube-STEP Part Setup menu.

Customizing the Part Setup Menu

The Part Setup menu lists the values for a project, such as Part Number, Customer, Diameter and Wall. You can choose which values appear in the menu and put them in the order that suits your workflow. Values you don't use can be hidden, and you can show them again at any time.

VTube-STEP and VTube-LASER each keep their own layout, so changing one doesn't change the other.

Open the Value Order Control window

  1. Find the Part Setup menu.
  2. Click the menu control button at the right end of the Part Setup header.
  3. The Part Setup Value Order Control window opens. It is titled STEP Part Setup Value Order Control or LASER Part Setup Value Order Control, depending on where you opened it.

The window has two lists:

List What it means
Values Available But Not Displayed (left) Values that are hidden from the Part Setup menu.
Value Displayed in Order (right) Values that appear in the Part Setup menu, from top to bottom.

Tip: You can select more than one value in either list. Use Ctrl+click to pick individual values, or Shift+click to pick a range.

Show a hidden value

  1. In the Values Available But Not Displayed list, select one or more values.
  2. Click the arrow button that moves values to the right.
  3. The values are added to the bottom of the Value Displayed in Order list.

Hide a value

  1. In the Value Displayed in Order list, select one or more values.
  2. Click the arrow button that moves values to the left.
  3. The values move to the Values Available But Not Displayed list. They are no longer shown in the Part Setup menu, but you can bring them back at any time.

Change the order of displayed values

  1. In the Value Displayed in Order list, select one or more values.
  2. Click Move Up or Move Down. Each click moves the selected values one position.
  3. Keep clicking until the values are where you want them.

Restore the default layout

Click Reset to Default. Every value is shown again in the standard VTube order. Click Apply or OK to update the Part Setup menu.

Save or discard your changes

Button What it does
Apply Updates the Part Setup menu right away and keeps the window open, so you can check the result.
OK Updates the Part Setup menu and closes the window.
Cancel Closes the window. Changes made since you last clicked Apply are discarded.

Your layout is saved automatically and is used again the next time VTube starts.
