Overall Principles of Sending VTube Data to YLM How to Send NEW MASTER Data to YLM Benders from VTube-STEP How to Send CORRECTION Data to the YLM Benders from VTube-LASER How to Close the YLM Software in Windows

Overall Principles of Sending VTube Data to YLM

  • YLM requires that VTube-LASER saves Supravision files in a network location shared with the YLM control.
  • The YLM imports the files and uses them to create new parts or correct existing parts.
  • The process for NEW verse CORRECTION is different. See the different steps below.

How to Send NEW MASTER Data to YLM Benders from VTube-STEP

To send a NEW tube project, the YLM imports VTube MASTER Supravision LRA data. Follow these steps at VTube-STEP to Send a NEW TUBE SETUP to a YLM Bender.

  1. Switch to the MASTER TUBE window and press the EXPORT tab.
  2. Choose "Export to Supravision file" in the pulldown menu.
  3. Choose the appropriate data options, then press "Save to Supravision File." The Path Manager will display and allow you to select the correct bender path.
  4. Move to the YLM control and follow the steps below to import the new data.

Now Move to the YLM and follow these steps to import the NEW data:

STEP 1 - Clear the YBC Data

In the YLM control, clear the YBC data. (Note: Clearing is optional. It is not always necessary - but seems to keep data from overlapping between older and newer setups.)

STEP 2 - Click on Correction in the YLM YBC Menu

This button can be disabled on some controls and must be enabled in the setup. Contact Joe Seibel (joe@jsmachine.com) if this button is disabled so that he can give you instructions for enabling the feature.

STEP 3 - Select the file

In the lower right corner of the screen, select the drive and path, then explore for and select the $$$ file created by VTube-LASER.

STEP 4 - Import

In the YLM YBC menu, click on IMPORT. (Do not click "COMPARE" - as that is for corrections.)

STEP 5 - Exit the Corrections Menu

Press the Exit menu close button in the lower right corner of the screen.

STEP 6 - Double Tap the Teach Mode

To exit the YBC screen, you might need to double-tap on the teach mode button to turn on teach mode. Then, double-tap on the sequence's icon at the top of the sequences column. Reset the sequences.

How to Send CORRECTION Data to the YLM Benders from VTube-LASER

The connection to the bender is made with a standard network connection and a shared folder location between the VTube computer and the operator station computer.

For a CORRECTION, the YLM takes in VTube MEASURED Supravision LRA data. To correct a YLM bender, it is important to send only the data for the MEASURED part - not the MASTER or the CORRECTION data inside the Bender Setup menu. For the YLM bender communications, the operator never needs to use the Bender Setup menu.

Follow these steps at VTube-LASER to Correct a YLM Bender

STEP 1 - Measure the tube

Switch to the MEASURED TUBE window and press the FILE tab.

STEP 2 - Save the measured data to a Supravision file.

About the Radius Button Options in VTube

INVERT ROTATIONS: VTube-LASER thinks of CCW is a positive rotation viewed from the front of the bender. However, some YLM benders view the positive rotation as a clockwise rotation. If the YLM bender rotates positive in the clockwise direction, then put a check in the "Additive Invert the Rotation Values in the LRA Data for CW Positive" checkbox. (Additive Invert means to multiply all the numbers by -1.)

INVERT LRA DATA: Most newer YLM benders use unaltered MEASURED data for corrections. However, some older YLM benders need the MEASURED data to be converted with a special "Invert the Measured LRA Output for YLM Control Corrections" option. We don't recommend using this option unless we tell you it is needed. (What it does is complicated - so we'll spare you the details.)

STEP 3 - Move the YLM and Import

Move to the YLM control and follow the steps below to import the correction.

Move to the YLM bender. Follow these steps at the YLM CONTROL to import the measured data from VTube-LASER.

STEP 1 - Click on Correction in the YLM Screen

In the YLM YBC menu, click on CORRECTION.

Note: This button can be disabled on some controls and must be enabled in the setup. Contact Joe Seibel (joe@jsmachine.com) of this button is disabled so that he can give you instructions for enabling the feature.

STEP 2 - Search for the $$$ file

Search for and select the $$$ file that VTube-LASER created.

STEP 3 - Press the Compare button

Select COMPARE to bring the data into the YLM control. The COMPARE button will only display when a file is selected.

NOTE: DO NOT press the IMPORT button for corrections. Pressing IMPORT will make the correction data the nominal data - which would be incorrect.

STEP 4 - Press Menu Close

Press the menu close button in the lower right corner.

How to Close the YLM Software in Windows

To shut down the YLM software to configure Windows settings:

  1. Press the Shutdown button.
  2. Press "NO" for shutdown.
  3. Type "12345" and OK in the numeric keypad.
  4. YLM will close without shutting down the computer.
