Follow These Steps to Update VTube How to Manage Older Versions Best Time to Update - During Open Office Hours Requirements for Updates

Follow These Steps to Update VTube

1 - By email (support@advancedtubular.com), request that we send you credentials for the update. Proceed after we respond.

We send credentials like this:

Installation program password: 1234567890

Cloud License ID: 12345678

Cloud License Activation Password: ABCDEFGH

2 - Close VTube-LASER on your system.

3 - Using an Internet browser, download the latest version using the hyperlink we shared with you.

4 - Run the installation program.

5 - Enter the password we sent you.

5 - After installation, a new shortcut on the Desktop will point to the new version.

6 - Delete the shortcut that points to the older version.

7 - If you have pinned a VTube icon to your taskbar, right-click it and choose "unpin."

8 - If you had an icon pinned to the taskbar, then drag and drop the new desktop icon to the taskbar. This will pin the correct shortcut to the taskbar.

9 - Run the new version of VTube-LASER. Confirm the new version is running by watching the version in the splash screen.

10 - VTube may check in with the cloud license server.

11 - If VTube asks for cloud license credentials, use the credentials we sent you.

12 - VTube will call the license server through the Internet, validate the license, and then load. If VTube reports that the validation is unsuccessful, email support@advancedtubular.com with a screenshot of the error. We will help you fix the issue as soon as possible.

13 - The VTube update is complete.  You can run the new version of VTube-LASER.

How to Manage Older Versions

We recommend that you do not uninstall the older versions before installing the new version.

You have two choices for managing older versions.

1 - Temporarily leave the older version on your computer as a failsafe precaution when loading and testing the new one.  Then, occasionally, manually delete the older folder structures in Program Files (x86).  (Recommended)

2 - Uninstall the older version before installing the new version.  Leave the configuration files in place.

The original configuration is always used by the newer VTube-LASER.  This should not be deleted.  It is stored in “C:\Users\Public\Documents\VTube\config” by default.  (The default location can be changed.  See https://advancedtubular.helpjuice.com/vtube-technical-articles/how-to-change-the-vtube-config-folder-for-windows-controlled-folder-access-preload-configuration)

Best Time to Update - During Open Office Hours

We recommend updating VTube during our regular business hours. Our office is open for business Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

If, after installation, VTube reports that validation is unsuccessful, please email a screenshot of the error to support@advancedtubular.com. We will assist you in resolving the issue as soon as possible. If you email us during regular business hours and need to get VTube running ASAP, please call us at 248-674-2059 for immediate support.

Requirements for Updates

The installation process requires an internet connection.

You will use an Internet browser to download the latest installation program.

These steps assume you are updating the same computer on which a current license of VTube is installed.

The new installation program will create a new Program Files (x86) folder with the latest version, leaving the previous version in place.
