1 - Comparing STL to MASTER Tube Data

When the model is imported from STL files, it is often used to compare to a MASTER tube, which allows for tube shape qualification and bender correction.

2 - Reverse-engineering to MASTER Tube Data

VTube-LASER can also reverse-engineer an STL model into a new MASTER tube shape.

3 - Sending new data or correcting CNC Benders

All measured data can be sent to scores of benders using VTube-LASER's embedded Benderlink capabilities.

4 - About Handheld Scanners and STL Files

An STL file is a commonly used format for 3D printing and computer-aided design (CAD). It represents a surface as a series of small triangles, known as facets, where each facet is described by a perpendicular direction and three points that define the triangle's vertices. The format approximates the surfaces of a solid model with triangles, and it is the de facto standard data transmission format for the Rapid Prototyping industry.

This is a graphic rendering of the surface data inside an STL file:

All handheld scanners can scan tubes and create STL files.

Users can scan tube shapes using handheld scanners, export the data to an STL file, and then import the STL file into VTube-LASER for measurement.

5 - VTube-LASER STL Import and the virtual Cloud Arm Measuring Device

The STL model import allows for importing scanned data from any device that scans surfaces and creates STL files. The imported data is converted to a point cloud measured with the virtual Cloud Arm.
