Glossary

This is a auto-generated Article of all your definitions within the glossary.

  • Additive Inversion

Additive inversion means to multiply any value by negative 1. Example: -10 is the additive inverse of +10. +10 is also the additive inverse of -10.

  • AS9100

AS9100 (Rev D) is the aerospace quality management standard built on top of ISO 9001. It is designed to specify organizational control of metrology laboratories.

  • Centerline

In the context of a bent tube, pipe, or rod, this refers to the centerline of a tube shape.

  • Conical Seats

Conical seats are machined countersinks that allow ball probes to be seated precisely.

  • CTE

CTE describes how much a material expands or contracts per degree of temperature change. Usually expressed as µm/m/°C (or in/in/°F). For metrology, it matters because a sphere that expands or contracts between your first and second scanner setup will introduce registration errors in your leapfrog. Materials with low and consistent CTE hold their geometry better across temperature fluctuations on the shop floor.

  • ISO 17025

ISO 17025 is a specification for accreditation for laboratories. See https://www.iso.org/standard/66912.html It is does not apply to software vendors like Advanced Tubular Technologies.

  • Leapfrog

The process of moving a measuring device in the middle of a measurement without losing its location in space.

  • Radial growth

The phenomenon where the bend radii increase during bending.

  • XYZ

In the context of tube shapes, XYZ coordinates usually refer to the centerline XYZ points that define the shape of a tube. They are composed of end points and intersection points.
